GUILD OF THE CASCADES
GENERAL MEETING - March 12, 2007

Attendance:

Meeting began at 6:45pm at the Bend Public Library
Old business
Notification of meetings: Group discussion as to if we should appoint someone to call and/or email a reminder of the general meetings. Group decided that an email sent out 1 week prior to meeting and again 2 days prior to meeting would be sufficient. No phone calls would be necessary. Group also determined that it would be good to highlight with bold and underline the next upcoming meeting in the meeting minutes for the future notification. Also, Wildfire meeting minutes need to be emailed out to general members.
Empty Bowls: Corinne gave us an update for Empty Bowls 2007. There is still no new name to replace “Pottery Olympics”; some ideas include “Bowl Games, Bowl-a-Thon, and Throw-a-Thon.” Georgies has agreed to donate clay to the participating potters, potters can begin throwing now and be issued replacement clay later (BSG clay), or throw during the “Pottery Olympics.” Each bowl should be 1 and a quarter pound of clay with the words “Empty Bowls 2007” written on bottom. Corrine is going to work on getting not only the bowls tax deducted (if personal materials were used) but tax deducting the artist’s time as well. Artists were encouraged to submit designs for poster artwork as soon as possible. There was also a request for a slab roller and hand building area to be set up for non-throwing potters to utilize during “Pottery Olympics.”
Non-Profit Status: As per Jolene, we received forms to fill out for non-profit status, we submitted them, then the forms changed, so Jolene filled out the new forms and resubmitted. We are still waiting to hear back on the status of acceptance.
Website: David reported that the website is now updated and is soon to be uploaded. Artists are encouraged to submit any images, links, pictures, etc to David to be included in website.
New Business:
-email needs to be sent out to remaining 18 members that have still not submitted their membership dues for renewal.
-group discussed coordinating a group bulk order for Georgies to save money on shipping. No decisions were made at this time.
-Party at Cinder Cone Co-op on May 4th from 5-9pm
